Mr Masagos Zulkifli is Singapore’s Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, which oversees the National Environment Agency, PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, and the Singapore Food Agency. Mr Zulkifli entered politics in 2006, after being elected as Member of Parliament for the Tampines Group Representation Constituency. Prior to that, he was working in Singapore Telecommunications Limited, and held the position of CEO, SingTel Global Offices.

Mr Zulkifli was appointed as Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education in 2006, and subsequently Minister of State for Education in 2010. From 2008 to 2014, he also held other positions within the Singapore Government, in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs.

He took on his current appointment in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources in October 2015, and was most recently appointed as Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs on 1 May 2018.

Mr Ban Ki-moon has been the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute since 20 February 2018. His leadership has been instrumental for the Institute to help its Members to successfully adopt the green growth model of development, which is strongly in line with the work he spearheaded at the United Nations.

Previously, Mr Ban served two consecutive terms as the Eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations from 2007 to 2016, during which time he worked to build bridges, to give voice to the world’s most vulnerable and neglected people, and to bring transparency and effectiveness to the UN. He successfully initiated global action to combat climate change and worked closely with member states to shape the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to establish UN Women.

Prior to leading the UN, Mr Ban was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea, capping his 37-year career with the Ministry.

Mr Ban holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Seoul National University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Ian Chapman became CEO of the UK Atomic Energy Authority and Director of the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in October 2016. He has held a number of international roles in fusion, including membership of the Princeton Plasma Physics Advisory board, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Plasma Physics advisory board and chairing the IAEA International Fusion Research Committee.

His research has been recognised with a number of international awards, including the Institute of Physics Paterson Medal in 2013, the European Physical Society Early Career Prize in 2014, the American Physical Society Stix Award in 2017, the Royal Society Kavli Medal in 2019 and the Institute of Physics Glazebrook Medal for leadership in 2021. He was made a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 2013 and became a visiting Professor at Durham University in 2015.

Piers is Chairman and CEO of the Isle Group. Isle is a technical, specialist water consultancy with offices in the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, the USA, Australia, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. Isle works with over 200 utilities around the world. Piers was previously the Managing Director for the private equity fund Global Water Development Partners (GWDP), a Blackstone portfolio company. From 2010-14 he was the Commercial Director at Thames Water, the largest of the UK water companies. Prior to joining Thames Water, Piers was Managing Director for Mouchel, leading a team of 3,000 staff providing engineering consultancy and operational maintenance services in the water, energy, environment and rail sectors. 

In 2006, Piers helped establish an innovative funding mechanism for technology companies, called TAG (Technology Approval Group). TAG bridges the gap between venture capital investors and the water company end-users and has resulted in over $1bn being invested in water-related cleantech companies. Piers is a board director for Modern Water plc and OzoInnovations. He has a PhD in Civil Engineering.

Helge leads the water practice at Emerald Technology Ventures, a globally recognised Cleantech Investor with a twenty-year investment history. Part of this history has been a unique traction in the water space including successful exits to major industry players (SUEZ, XYLEM and BASF).

Helge’s academic background comprises of Civil Engineering (MSc) and Environmental Engineering (Dr.sc.techn.). His past and active involvements in the water space include Optimatics (software for advanced infrastructure planning, acquired by SUEZ), Pure Technologies (structural monitoring of water mains, acquired by Xylem for USD 400 million), inge watertechnologies (UF membrane products, acquired by BASF), HydroPoint Data Systems (commercial landscape irrigation control) and TaKaDu (pioneer in smart water grids).

He is an advisor to multiple accelerators and conferences. Helge is also a co-founder and Managing Director of the recently formed ripple2wave incubator, an entity dedicated to building emerging water industry leaders in Singapore.

François Fevrier is the CEO of SUEZ Asia’s Water Asia business. He was appointed CEO of the company in July 2015. During Fevrier’s 28 years with SUEZ, he has played a vital role in building the company’s successful portfolio and is a force driver behind SUEZ’s outstanding growth. Fevrier currently oversees the operation and management of all water businesses of SUEZ in South East Asia as well as SUEZ NWS Limited in Greater China.

He has previously held several executive positions which include Sales Director for Operation and Maintenance and Sales Director for Eastern Europe in the Standard Product Division at the Group’s Treatment Infrastructure business, formerly known as Degrémont. He also served as Managing Director of the Group’s Water and Wastewater Treatment Equipment brand, previously known as ozonia®, in Zurich, where he also led the establishment of Degrémont Technologies. In September 2008, François was appointed Executive Vice President of Business Operation of Degrémont, where he focused on the Middle East, Dubai, Delhi, Beijing and Sydney markets.

Fevrier earned his Bachelor’s degrees at Agro ParisTech and the Institut De Contrôle De Gestion in France.

Christiana Figueres is a Costa Rican citizen and was the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2010 - 2016. 

During her tenure at the UNFCCC, Ms. Figueres brought together national and sub-national governments, corporations and activists, financial institutions and NGOs to jointly deliver the historic Paris Agreement on climate change, in which 195 sovereign nations agreed on a collaborative path forward to limit future global warming to well below 2°C, and strive for 1.5°C in order to protect the most vulnerable. For this achievement, Ms. Figueres has been credited with forging a new brand of collaborative diplomacy, for which she has received multiple awards.

Since then Ms. Figueres has continued to serve her one and only boss, the global atmosphere. She sits on multiple boards and is a founding partner of Global Optimism Ltd., a purpose driven enterprise focused on social and environmental change. She convenes Mission 2020 and co-chairs the Global Covenant of Mayors.  

She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the London School of Economics. She lives in Costa Rica and has two fantastic daughters. 

Pierre-Etienne Franc joined the Air Liquide Group in 1995 as a strategic analyst for the Group. He then held several positions in Projects Business Development, Operations General Management, and Strategy and Diversification. Since 2010, he has been supervising the portfolio of advanced businesses and technologies initiatives of the Group, in the fields of energy and environment, space, aeronautics, cryogenics.

He has been Vice President, Air Liquide, Hydrogen Energy World Business Unit since June 2017. In this capacity, he is in charge of developing the full potential of H2 activities for the Group worldwide and supervises the Air Liquide Venture Capital arm (ALIAD) which he created in 2012. Between 2011 and June 2016, he was Chairman of Hydrogen Europe and of the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU), the European Platform financing Hydrogen and Fuel Cell sector.

He is the current Hydrogen Council Secretary.

Pierre-Etienne has authored three books: “Le Management du Client”, Eyrolles, 1994; “Hydrogen, the energy transition in the making”, Manifesto/Gallimard, 2015; and “Entreprise et bien commun”, Palio 2018. He is a graduate of HEC Paris.

Mr. Hu Yee Cheng Robin joined Temasek in December 2016 and is currently Head, Sustainability & Stewardship Group.

Mr. Hu was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the South China Morning Post (“SCMP”) Group in Hong Kong since June 2012. Prior to his appointment at SCMP, Mr. Hu was Senior Executive Vice President, Chinese Newspapers Division and Newspaper Services Division of Singapore Press Holdings (“SPH”) for eight years, where he was responsible for managing the group’s three Chinese dailies, a bilingual free-sheet, events and exhibitions, retail and magazine operations and China business relations and development.

Mr. Hu also served as Managing Director (Global Business) of Singtel NCS Ltd. from August 2001 to June 2004. Mr. Hu gained earlier experience in China as the Regional Director (China) for the Singapore Economic Development Board based in Shanghai and Suzhou between 1995 and 1997 and in Beijing in 1998. During this time Mr. Hu was a Counsellor with the Embassy of Republic of Singapore (Beijing) between March 1998 and December 1999. Mr. Hu also served as SVP and Country GM of Asiacontent.com Ltd from January 2000 to June 2001.

Mr. Hu holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics from the University of Kent and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wales.

Edwin Keh is the CEO of The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel. He is also on Faculty at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology where he teaches supply chain operations.

Edwin was the SVP COO of Wal-Mart Global Procurement until April 2010. Prior to Wal-Mart, Edwin managed a consulting group that has done work for companies on supply chain, manufacturing, and product design. The practice also did work for non-profit organisations and charities. Edwin co-founded the Consortium For Operational Excellence in Greater China (COER GC). The Consortium is sponsored by the Wharton School and Tsinghua University.

Edwin had a career as a senior executive with several US consumer goods and retail companies. He was the Managing Director of Payless Shoesource International, Donna Karan International, and Country Road Australia. He also worked for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

Edwin serves on multiple industry and educational boards. He advises several other social enterprises.

Edwin is the 2011 recipient of the Production and Operations Management Society’s Martin K. Starr Excellence in Production and Operations Management Practice Award, and is on the Debrett’s Hong Kong 100 as one of the most influential people in Technology and Digital sector.

Ms Kwakwa was appointed World Bank Regional Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific in April 2016. In this capacity she leads the World Bank’s engagement in the 23-member countries in the region focusing on private sector led growth, human capital development and inclusion, and sustainable and resilient development. She oversees a development project portfolio of about $33.4 billion, including $24.1 billion in infrastructure, and a strong programme of analytic work and policy advice on a broad range of development policy issues. Since taking on this position, she has championed strategic priorities in childhood nutrition and stunting, and climate adaptation and mitigation including support to countries in East Asia to transition to cleaner energy paths.

Prior to her appointment as Regional Vice President, Ms Kwakwa was World Bank Country Director for Vietnam. During her tenure she worked closely with Government to provide policy advice and financial support to shore up growth and build macroeconomic resilience in the aftermath of the 2008-2009 Global Financial Crisis. She also spearheaded a stepped-up engagement between the World Bank and Vietnam’s provinces who have responsibility for several areas of service delivery and account for a significant share of public expenditures. In 2016, Ms Kwakwa and her team worked with the Government of Vietnam to prepare The Vietnam 2035 report “Towards Prosperity, Creativity, Equity and Democracy”. A joint undertaking by experts from Vietnam and the World Bank, the report evaluates Vietnam’s possibilities and options for achieving its aspirations of modernity, industrialization and a higher quality of life.

Ms Kwakwa’s areas of expertise include economic competitiveness and diversification, fiscal management, notably in natural resource rich economies and fiscal decentralisation. She has worked closely with and advised Governments in a range of countries as diverse as Nigeria, Vietnam and Rwanda. She was a member of the Core Team that prepared the World Bank’s World Development Report 2000/2001, “Attacking Poverty”.

Ms Kwakwa joined the World Bank as a Young Professional and holds a combined BA degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Legon, and M.A and PhD degrees in Economics with specialisation in International Trade and Finance and Monetary Theory from Queens University, Kingston, Canada.

Mr Lim Boon Heng was appointed Chairman of Temasek Holdings on 1 August 2013, after having served as its Director since 1 June 2012.

Mr Lim is the Chairman of NTUC Enterprise Co-operative Ltd. He was previously a Cabinet Minister within the Prime Minister's Office. Mr Lim’s career spans the private and public sectors, having led Singapore’s National Trade Union Congress, and having served as a Member of Parliament (1980 to 2011) and Cabinet Minister for Trade and Industry. Before entering the public sector, Mr Lim spent a decade at NOL (Neptune Orient Lines).

Mr Lim holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Naval Architecture from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.

Janice Lin is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Strategen. She brings more than two decades of experience in clean energy strategy, market development, and corporate strategy to the organisation. During her tenure, she has advised a diverse set of clients across the globe including governments, multinational corporations and utilities.

In 2009, Janice co-founded the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA) and is currently the Executive Director. In 2014, Janice co-founded the Global Energy Storage Alliance (GESA), and she currently serves on the Board of Directors and as Secretary of the Executive Committee. Janice has also served on the Electricity Advisory Council of the US Department of Energy, and as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC) and the Energy Storage Committee of Joint Venture Silicon Valley. Janice is also Co-Founder and Chair of the annual Energy Storage North America (ESNA) conference.

Ariel Muller leads the growth of Forum for the Future’s work in the Asia Pacific region. Since its launch five years ago, she and the team have developed a thriving network of partners that choose to work with Forum because they understand the value of going beyond compliance to pioneering leadership in sustainability.

Ariel  has over 13 years’ experience designing and delivering sustainability programmes across a broad range of sectors including retail brands, manufacturing, agriculture, aviation, shipping, the extractive industries, and technology.

Prior to working for Forum, Ariel was the Sustainable Business lead at Helsinki Group, a collaborative innovation firm that helped organizations build their capacity for change and transformation. While in New York, she was also adjunct faculty at Parson’s New School in a programme that integrated design thinking, systems thinking, urban policy and environmental science. Before this, Ariel was with Saatchi and Saatchi S, where she designed and delivered sustainability employee engagement programmes for Fortune 100 companies such as Wal-Mart, NBC Universal, Duke Energy and P&G.

Her undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and she has an MBA in Sustainable Business from Presidio Graduate School.

Anthea Indira ONG Lay Theng likes to wear hats - many of them at a go, in fact. She is a mover and shaker in the local volunteerism scene, having spearheaded several ground-up movements in service of humanity. Most notable is Hush TeaBar, Singapore's first silent teabar that employs the Deaf and persons-in-recovery from and those with mental health conditions, empowering them to reintegrate into society. 

She is passionate about educating others in social inclusion at the workplace and community, mental health and volunteerism - topics which she will be bringing to the table in her capacity as Nominated Member of Parliament. It will be a tall hat she wears in this public service role. 

When she's not a corporate mad hatter as managing director of an international strategy consulting group for banks and financial institutions or as a life coach, Anthea can be found hugging trees, meditating in a kaftan off the cliff of some place exotic where her globe-trotting legs will take her or practising yoga with the Antarctica penguins if they would let her.

Robert Swan is the first person to have walked to both the North and South Poles. He is an explorer, a leader in energy innovation, and founder of the 2041 Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to preserve Antarctica as a natural reserve, land for science and peace.  

On January 11, 1986, Robert and a team of three, ‘In the Footsteps of Scott’ arrived at the South Pole. Their 900-mile journey was the longest unassisted march in history.  

Three years later, in 1989, Robert led, ‘Icewalk’, with a team of eight to the North Pole. By the age of 33, Robert had achieved his dream to walk to both the Poles.  

During these two historic expeditions, Robert experienced firsthand the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. At the South Pole, his eyes changed color through damage due to the prolonged exposure of ultra-violet rays as he walked under the hole in the ozone layer. At the North Pole, his team nearly drowned because of the premature melting of the ocean ice. These two hard-hitting and unexpected incidents galvanised him to launch the mission, ‘2041’.  

Robert received the Polar Medal and the title of the Officer of the British Empire (O.B.E) from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. His contributions to education, energy innovation and environmental action have been recognised by the United Nations through his appointment as UNEP Goodwill Ambassador for Youth, Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO and as a recipient of the UN Humanitarian Innovation Award. He is the co-author of four books and was a keynote speaker at all of the UN World Summits for Sustainable Development, the World Economic Forum and the Corporate Eco Forum.

In January of 2023, Robert completed his 37-year goal of crossing the Antarctic landmass on foot.

Harsha’s journey with fashion sustainability started more than two decades ago. He is one of the pioneers of bringing sustainable materials and circularity into high street fashion. Harsha’s expertise includes various environment related topics within the textile supply chain, sustainable material development and sourcing, cleaner production techniques and sustainable innovation.

Harsha is currently based in Hong Kong and heads the global environment team for H&M Group. As part of this responsibility, he works closely with different business functions, supply chains in various production countries, as well as external stakeholders within and outside the fashion industry.

Harsha has a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Technology from India and holds a Master of Science in Environment Management and Policy from Lund University, Sweden.

Mr Wong has close to 30 years of leadership experience in the energy sector and in investment management. He has been instrumental in leading Sembcorp’s transformation of its portfolio from brown to green.

Mr Wong was the group chief executive officer of Singapore Power (SP Group) from 2012 to 2020. Prior to SP Group, he led investments and project development in his roles at Temasek International and The AES Corporation.

Mr Wong is the chairman of SkillsFuture Singapore and serves on the boards of the National Research Foundation, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and DSO National Laboratories. He is also a board member of China Venture Capital Fund Corporation and a Vice Chairman of the World Energy Council.

Mr Wong holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
