Ilya Bonic is President of the Career business at Mercer, a global consulting leader in health, wealth, and career. With more than 20 years’ experience in Human Resource consulting, Ilya has worked with leading multinational companies to advise, design, deliver, and implement services and tools that allow them to make more informed decisions on strategic people issues.
Ilya’s experience includes multiple regional and global leadership roles. In combination, these provide for an extensive international background that encompasses all aspects of Mercer’s Career business services. Ilya joined Mercer in Australia in 1997 and soon after relocated to Singapore where he delivered on Asia Pacific regional responsibilities for five years. He then moved to Europe and was based in Geneva for 9 years before relocating to the US in 2015. Ilya has had responsibility for all markets from which Mercer delivers client consulting services. With his international background and through his client and business leadership roles, Ilya has been well placed to comment on current issues and emerging trends for Human Resources.
The issue top of mind for Ilya currently is digitization, which—along with business model disruption, automation, and AI—is accelerating the evolution of work. Ilya is passionate about helping companies on the path of digital disruption, and he helped create the Mercer Digital offering to help clients navigate to their future business model while also addressing the societal costs of technological disruption.
Ilya holds a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
