Luca Tonello leads one of Asia Pacific’s most respected teams engaged in capital raising and advisory for the infrastructure and energy sectors at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).

As Managing Director for the bank’s Structured Finance Department in Asia Pacific (SFDA), Luca oversees the bank’s regional portfolio focused on sustainable energy, infrastructure, and natural resources. Under his leadership, the bank has recently been named as Bank of the Year, Asia Pacific by Project Finance International and is widely acclaimed for contributions to the development of critical infrastructure and energy projects across the region.

Throughout his career, Luca has contributed to several working groups on infrastructure development and financing promoted by the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Asia Development Bank (ADB), the Infrastructure Finance Facilitation Office (IFFO) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Indonesia Minister of Finance, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the OECD Organisation, to name a few.
