Southeast Asia is disproportionately affected by climate change with its long coastlines and low-lying areas. Yet, with the region’s fast-growing economies and young population, it has immense potential to play a critical role in global decarbonisation efforts. This endeavor will not be without challenges given Southeast Asia’s dependence on fossil fuels and its growing energy demands. What are the levers that the region can tap on for a “win-win” for both economic growth and a just transition? Panellists will discuss new and emerging policies, sustainable financing opportunities in Southeast Asia, and the need for regional cooperation to catalyse transition for a net-zero Southeast Asia.
