Professor William Chen is the Michael Fam Chair Professor with NTU Singapore. His food research has a strong focus on development of food technology platform, which has resulted in his active joint R&D with food industry and government agencies.

The F&N-NTU F&B Innovation Lab was opened in 2019, the first external lab in the company's 138 years of history. He is also actively engaged in various government efforts in enhancing food security. Prof. Chen's research in zero food waste processing and Circular Food Economy has been extensively covered by Channel News Asia, The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, The Business Times, and the investment weekly The Edge Singapore. He has been interviewed for his food tech innovations and his views on Food Security by international media including Asahi Shimbun (Japan), AFP, BBC, Bloomberg News, CNBC, CNN, Fortune Times, Globo Rural (Brazil), Libération (France), Los Angeles Times, and The Wall Street Journal. The ‘Going Green’ programme produced by CNN in 2019 described Professor Chen as a Game-Changing Leader in the green revolution of the food system.

Professor Chen is Advisor to government agencies, food industry, NGOs and overseas universities on matters related to food tech and food security.
