Major trends and opportunities in energy transition

The transition to a new energy system is a reality, and driven by a host of factors: climate change and associated COP 21 commitments; the need for energy security; social pressure to move away from fossil fuels; and the need to reduce cost of energy.

This transition has a profound impact across industries, with traditional value chains being redefined. Emergence of technologies in digital and energy storage, coupled with the increasing adoption of electric vehicles, add to the challenge faced by incumbent players, while providing opportunities for new entrants.

This session will discuss the key drivers for the energy transition, its implications for traditional industries and the new opportunities that open up particularly through the emergence of new business models.
